Putting Two Together

When putting the images together I actually do really like my Claudia and Quentin. I like the fact it is noticeable I have used the same colours for Claudia's lips and Quentin's kiss mark it brings their characters together. I think the styling is appropriate and basic in the same way I have styled their make-up (and hair for Claudia) but it gives a nice contrast between them, one in white with pale complexion and the other dressed in black with dark skin tone. Admittedly its not technically difficult to the eye but I was really trying to work on polished finished images, that have been executed well and I think I have done that better than I have in the past.

My Claudia Moodboard

I struggled a lot more creating my Claudia mood board as it was such a basic idea that there want a lot of imagery that summed up the mood and thought process i had behind the design. I think overall although it is basic it has captured the idea of the look though.

Quentin final images

When creating these images as expected I did struggle with creating the correct skin tone for my model. Eventually I think I got the correct colour and coverage so that it looks natural but I am not happy with how the kiss on the forehead isn't as visible in natural light even though it was really bright in person.

Quentin Moodboard

Developing my characterisation for Quentin and the ideas for the shoot was more difficult than I thought but the mood board really helped me gather my ideas as to what I wanted to include. I think the mod board includes the style referencing and make-up idea and the theme of what i want to create pretty accurately I also tried to get images that were relevant to my model so you can see how the idea will all come together.

My Quentin face chart

My Quentin Design is pretty basic but I think it is very fitting to the series Penny dreadful and also the character profile we have been provided for Quentin. The main challenge I have given myself is that I am actually yet to work on darker skin complexions and my model (Ramie) has a very dark skin tone. This could become a issue as I will have to make sure to mix his exact skin tone so that the  images look authentic and natural whilst also making his skin a smooth coverage. The thought process behind the kiss on the forehead was because in the character profiles we were given it stated that Claudia is very possessive over Quentin and has a strong suspicion he is cheating on her. This design can be interpreted in two ways by the audience, firstly that Claudia has kissed him to make her mark and ensure other women stay away from him. Secondly as Quentin's image essentially changes to Claudia's mood and how she see's him if she thinks he has been cheating on her she may actually invasion him with the kisses of other women still on him when he comes to see her. I am using the same lipstick that I have used in my Claudia images swell so that if the interpretation is that its her kiss it is the same colour.

to make this look all I am using is:
kryolan camouflage concealer pallet
Illamasqua primer
M.A.C Russian red lipstick
M.A.C ruby woo lipglass
Carmex

The process of this look is pretty easy I start by mixing together the necessary concealers with the Illamasqua primer. I then cover the entire face with this blending well. I then use the remanding mixture left and mix in darker tones so it is a shade or two darker and use this to make a very faint contour of the cheek. I then apply a heavy amount of Ruusian red lipstick and ruby woo lip glass and place a kiss on the top right of my models forehead. This is obviously not a professional form of application but for the purpose of this shoot and the fact I know my model very well it is the best way for the desired image.  to finish the look i will apply a small amount of carmex to the lips to make sure they don't look dry in the photos.

my claudia face chart

to start with I did a face chart purely made of the exact products I wanted to use to create my Claudia look. these products were tested when doing the dark eyes and lips

I don't like this image because, although the foundation I was using was incredibly pale, in contrast to the white paper it was appearing very dark and making the image look very different to what I intend the make-up to look like.

Penny Dreadful Mood-board

Whilst looking at penny dreadful as a T.V series I made a mood-board that I believe summarises the theme of penny dreadful and the idea I would like to capture within my characters as well.

I have tried to capture the themes i had earlier discussed when analysing penny dreadful the rich colours and the kind of presence I aspire to have within Claudia and quentin.
